Maintenance Assistant

Salary: $16-19/hour

Your Role

You are someone who is looking to utilize and grow your skills in mechanical and maintenance work for a stable company working amongst great people in a fast-paced environment.

Reporting directly to our Facility Manager, you will assist in the routine maintenance, diagnosis of issues and repair of our facilities, as well as the following equipment:

  • Semi and Roll-Off Trucks
  • Forklifts
  • HRB Baler
  • Industrial Shears
  • Stormwater System
  • Tooling and more.

You will work from our Seattle headquarters in SODO (parking included free).

Your new job with us is full-time and anticipated to be Monday through Friday during business hours. Your role may require occasional evening and weekend work as well.

Your Compensation

Your compensation will depend on your experience but will likely be between $16-19/hour to start. You will receive your base wage plus you’ll participate in our quarterly company profit sharing program, which has recently averaged over 10 % of annual wages. You will also receive our other company benefits, which include, full health and dental with employer contributions to your HSA, a voluntary cash benefits program, paid vacation, sick, holiday and personal day and 401(k) with healthy employer matching program.

Specific Tasks

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and maintain company’s facilities, truck fleet, forklifts and processing equipment
  • Work with Facility Manager and the Maintenance Team to conduct Preventative Maintenance (as scheduled/required)
  • Solve equipment issues in economical and safe fashion
  • Perform other duties as requested by Facility Manager

Your Skills

  • Been there, done that – Experience in changing oil, filters, fuel filters, air filters, greasing truck chassis, bearings, and equipment is preferred
  • Versatile – Skilled in general building maintenance and small engine repair
  • Problem Solver – Works with limited technical guidance
  • Safety First – You stay updated on safety protocols and adhere to same
  • Communicator – Strong communicator with all members of the team
  • Detailed – Excellent attention to detail

You will also need a valid drivers’ license to assist in parts runs. You may be subject to a drug test.

Production Manager

Salary: DOE

Your Role

You are someone who is looking to grow your skills in production management for a stable company working amongst great people.

Reporting directly to our VP Operations, you are primarily responsible for leading the Company’s non-ferrous metal recycling production. With the support of the Yard Operations team, you will continue to improve and implement the vision and strategy for production. You will supervise, coordinate and lead production activities in order to meet production schedule, quality and cost objectives. You will achieve your goals by leading our 30-person production crew in the areas of safety, reliability, cost savings and team building. You will work from our Seattle headquarters in SODO (parking is free).

Your new job with us is full-time and anticipated to be Monday through Friday during business hours. Everyone on the team has occasional evening and weekend work as well.

Specific Tasks

  • Day-to-day oversight of the production facility
  • Strict adherence to Company’s production standards and procedures
  • Effectively recruit and train production workforce (with support of Yard Ops team)
  • Determine optimum staffing level
  • Organizes workflow and ensures that employees understand their duties and tasks
  • Ensure all employees follow Company’s safety policies
  • Communicates daily with the production team on all important company information
  • Maintain visible on-floor presence to effectively manage productivity
  • Resolve operational problems to ensure minimum cost and prevent processing delays

Your Skills

  • Wicked smart – Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Tech Adequacy – Some skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Continuous improvement know-how – Understanding of 5S and Lean/Six Sigma a plus

Forklift Driver

Salary: Starting at $15/hour

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operating a forklift in the movement of bins and equipment
  • Grading and sorting products according to factors such as color, length, width, appearance, feel, and quality to ensure correct processing
  • Basic sorting of scrap, as well as metal and debris in preparation processing
  • Assisting with yard/facility cleanup and maintenance
  • Following all safety guidelines and protocol, including wearing of all PPE
  • Employees may be required to work some overtime on certain Saturdays until noon
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time, hear audible warning signals, walk and stand on uneven surfaces, lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Operating and moving various equipment may require dexterity to push, pull, climb, bend, twist, turn, reach, etc.
  • Must exhibit a high level of endurance, energy, and strength to successfully perform duties
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience driving a forklift is necessary
  • Ability to be flexible to changing work conditions and assignments, and work well within a team
  • Experience working within the Scrap Metal industry an asset
  • Skid steer experience is a plus
  • Experience torching scrap metal is also a plus

CDL A Truck Driver/$25 per hour/Home Daily

Salary: $25/hour

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Service our scrap metal accounts around Western Washington
  • Conduct pick-ups and drop-offs of tubs, roll-offs, etc.
  • Conduct certain recordkeeping regarding mileage, drive time and maintenance
  • Work well both alone or in a team setting, including with our customers
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB
  • May require dexterity when strapping/unstrapping tubs
  • Must exhibit a high level of endurance, energy, and strength to successfully perform duties
EXPERIENCE
  • Must be a Class A driver with minimum of two years’ experience
  • Roll-off and flatbed experience is a plus
  • Ability to communicate orally and written in a professional manner

General Labor

Salary: Starting at $15/hour

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Grading and sorting products according to factors such as color, length, width, appearance, feel, and quality to ensure correct processing
  • Assisting with yard/facility cleanup and maintenance
  • Following all safety guidelines and protocol, including wearing of all PPE

Scrap Metal Burner

Salary: Starting at $15/hour

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Torch cut scrap metal of various sizes down to specified dimensions using an oxygen/natural gas torch
  • Adherence with company safety and environmental standards
  • Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections to ensure equipment is in good working order
  • Assisting with yard/facility cleanup and maintenance
  • Employees may be required to work some overtime on certain Saturdays until noon
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB
  • Good visual acuity
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time, hear audible warning signals, walk and stand on uneven surfaces, lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Operating and moving various equipment may require dexterity to push, pull, climb, bend, twist, turn, reach, etc.
  • Must exhibit a high level of endurance, energy, and strength to successfully perform duties
EXPERIENCE
  • Previous experience with torch cutting and respirators
  • Ability to be flexible to changing work conditions and assignments, and work well within a team
  • Experience working within the Scrap Metal industry an asset
  • Forklift and skid steer experience is a plus
  • Experience torching scrap metal is also a plus
