Precious Metal Buyer

Your Role

You are someone who is looking to grow and utilize your customer service skills in an exciting industry for a stable company working amongst great people.

Reporting directly to our VP of Precious Metal Operations and working closely with our CFO, you’ll be part of a small team that is responsible for maintaining and developing great relationships with existing and potential customers/suppliers in the jewelry and pawn industries and beyond. You will first be trained to identify and correctly purchase a variety of precious metals, including gold and silver. You will also serve our walk-in customers regularly during training and beyond. Once trained, you will achieve your goals by (1) visiting facilities of current and potential precious metal suppliers around Western Washington, such as other jewelers and pawn shops, (2) developing and building customer/supplier relationships, including the development of customer specific marketing materials, (3) giving superior customer service in every situation, 100% of the time and (4) ultimately purchasing scrap gold, silver, platinum, palladium and more from your accounts to be recycled by our melt partners. You will be based out of our Seattle headquarters in SODO (parking included).

Your new job with us is full-time and anticipated to be Monday through Friday during business hours.

Your Compensation

Your compensation will depend on your experience. You will receive a base salary plus you’ll participate in our quarterly company profit sharing program, which has recently averaged over 10% of salary annually. You will also receive our other company benefits, which include, full health and dental with employer contributions to your HSA, a voluntary cash benefits program, paid vacation, sick, holiday and personal day and 401(k) with healthy employer matching program.

Specific Tasks

  • Serve walk-in customers by identifying and purchasing their precious metals
  • Manage and purchase from Company’s existing Western Washington precious metal accounts
  • Research and grow potential customer/supplier opportunities
  • Cold-call and cold-visit potential new accounts
  • Assist with precious metal division administrative tasks, including inventory and sorting

Your Skills

  • Customer service freak – Trouble sleeping if your customer has not been served well
  • 2+2 = You – Comfortable with simple number crunching when establishing pricing
  • Been there – Experience working in the jewelry or pawn industries is certainly a plus
  • Done that – Experience working in sales and not needing hand-holding an A-plus
  • Teammate – You work well with a team (this ain’t no solo job)
  • Takin’ Care of Business – Ability to take initiative and be a driver of change
  • Make good choices – You use great judgment in all that you do
A valid drivers’ license is required and final candidate will be subject to a standard background check.

CDL A Truck Driver/Up to $30 per hour/Home Daily

Salary: Up to $30/hour

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Service our scrap metal accounts around Western Washington
  • Conduct pick-ups and drop-offs of tubs, roll-offs, etc.
  • Conduct certain recordkeeping regarding mileage, drive time and maintenance
  • Work well both alone or in a team setting, including with our customers
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB
  • May require dexterity when strapping/unstrapping tubs
  • Must exhibit a high level of endurance, energy, and strength to successfully perform duties
EXPERIENCE
  • Must be a Class A driver with preferred minimum of two years’ experience
  • Roll-off and flatbed experience is a plus
  • Ability to communicate orally and written in a professional manner

Forklift Driver

Salary: Starting at $17.27/hour

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operating a forklift in the movement of bins and equipment
  • Grading and sorting products according to factors such as color, length, width, appearance, feel, and quality to ensure correct processing
  • Basic sorting of scrap, as well as metal and debris in preparation processing
  • Assisting with yard/facility cleanup and maintenance
  • Following all safety guidelines and protocol, including wearing of all PPE
  • Employees may be required to work some overtime on certain Saturdays until noon
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time, hear audible warning signals, walk and stand on uneven surfaces, lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Operating and moving various equipment may require dexterity to push, pull, climb, bend, twist, turn, reach, etc.
  • Must exhibit a high level of endurance, energy, and strength to successfully perform duties
EXPERIENCE
  • Experience driving a forklift is necessary
  • Ability to be flexible to changing work conditions and assignments, and work well within a team
  • Experience working within the Scrap Metal industry an asset
  • Skid steer experience is a plus
  • Experience torching scrap metal is also a plus

General Labor

Salary: Starting at $17.27/hour

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Grading and sorting products according to factors such as color, length, width, appearance, feel, and quality to ensure correct processing
  • Assisting with yard/facility cleanup and maintenance

Scrap Metal Burner

Salary: Starting at $17.27/hour

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Torch cut scrap metal of various sizes down to specified dimensions using an oxygen/natural gas torch
  • Adherence with company safety and environmental standards
  • Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections to ensure equipment is in good working order
  • Assisting with yard/facility cleanup and maintenance
  • Employees may be required to work some overtime on certain Saturdays until noon
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB
  • Good visual acuity
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time, hear audible warning signals, walk and stand on uneven surfaces, lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Operating and moving various equipment may require dexterity to push, pull, climb, bend, twist, turn, reach, etc.
  • Must exhibit a high level of endurance, energy, and strength to successfully perform duties
EXPERIENCE
  • Previous experience with torch cutting and respirators
  • Ability to be flexible to changing work conditions and assignments, and work well within a team
  • Experience working within the Scrap Metal industry an asset
  • Forklift and skid steer experience is a plus
  • Experience torching scrap metal is also a plus
